FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you use seed oils?

Fat is part of how we cook, not something we strip out. Every salsa is made with extra virgin olive oil. On other foods you’ll see that same olive oil, or grass-fed butter, avocado oil, tallow, lard, or the fat that’s already in the meat. We don’t use low-fat or no-fat versions of anything, because the body actually needs high-quality fats. Seed oils are the ones we skip. They oxidize quickly once they’re in you, so they don’t belong in a jar we’re asking you to eat.

How hot are these, and how do I pick?

We build salsa for flavor first, not heat for heat’s sake. Heat is a 1 to 5 scale, shown as flames on the label. Classic Red and Classic Green are mild, a 1. Creamy Avocado is still mild, with a tiny kick, a 2. The Fiery collection sits a touch over medium, a 3. Dragon’s Kiss and Dragon’s Breath are the sweet and spicy pineapple line at a 4. Our Scorching line, and Where’s the Milk, are as hot as we go at Blended, a 5, and they’re still flavor first.

How fresh is this?

We make salsa and BBQ in small batches, and it normally sells within 30 days of production. That’s the jar you want: recent, not sitting around. Orders are processed in 2 to 3 business days. If a flavor’s at zero on the shelf, we still take the order and make it in that window. Flavor first, then out the door.

Do I need to refrigerate this?

Unopened, the salsas and BBQ sauces are shelf stable for about a year. Keep them in the pantry until you crack the lid. Once it’s open, it belongs in the fridge. Figure on about two to three weeks after opening. That window moves around depending on how often the jar’s getting opened, so use your nose and eyes too. If it looks or smells off, don’t eat it.

Do the rubs need any special treatment after opening?

No. All of our Dust varieties are shelf stable. Leave it in the pantry or spice rack. We don’t use fillers or anything artificial, so the spices will settle and they can cake. That’s natural. It’s a container of real spice, not something padded to stay perfectly loose.

Any allergens I should know about?

All our packaged goods are gluten-free, and we don’t use nuts. Onion and garlic are in all of the salsas, BBQ sauces, and rubs. The avocado salsas all contain dairy, heavy cream. They’re vegetarian, not vegan. All other salsas are vegan. If you’re cooking around a specific allergy beyond that, check our labels or email us and we’ll tell you straight.

How long until orders ship?

All orders for our handcrafted salsas and rubs are processed within 2–3 business days. We ship Monday through Friday, and you will receive a notification with tracking information as soon as your order is headed your way.

Can I return salsa or other perishable goods?

No. Due to the perishable nature of our products (sauces, rubs, and prepared meals), we cannot accept returns. This ensures the safety of our customers and the integrity of our food safety standards.
